I got my heat deflectors last week, and I just had a chance to use them and wanted to give you all my opinion. 
THEY WORK!  These things are amazing. I was always wary when I would come to a stop and have to put my leg down, just waiting for that heat streaming off the back of the engine, searing my thigh. When I used these deflectors, there was no heat - NONE!  I even found my self pushing my leg closer to the deflectors to see if I was just being overcautious. Not! 
They fit very tightly above the frame and between the frame and the side covers. Once you have them on look from above to see that they are even and give them a little nudge to adjust. They are stiff, but have enough give to let you "customize" them. What's even better is how they look. They really look like they belong on the bike, and become "invisible".
When I brought my bike over to show one of my friends, his first words were "where are they?"! 

So definitely put these on your list.
